Kingston University is a public research university located in Kingston upon Thames, southwest London, United Kingdom. It was originally founded in 1899 and became a university in 1992. Campuses are located in Kingston and Roehampton.


Kingston University is a corporate body created by statute (PDF). The mission of the university is to promote higher education. Kingston University achieves top 500 ranking in league table of top world universities. The university houses 20,668 students in total (as of 1 December 2014) 3,725 non-UK students from 154 countries. Academic staff and teaching at Kingston University are divided into five faculties. Each faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, plus undertakes research in related areas.

The university hosts a range of creative and cultural activities, celebrating the belief that the arts are essential to the enjoyment, understanding and development of the community and of society as a whole.

Term dates 2015/16

The University's standard academic year runs from September to June, divided into three terms.

Monday 28 September – Friday 18 December 2015 (new students from Monday 21 September 2015)

Spring term
Monday 11 January – Friday 18 March 2016

Summer term
Monday 4 April – Friday 24 June 2016
